Shelley Roaten, MS, RD, CSSD, LD
Shelley Roaten MS, RD, CSSD, LD is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian and earned her B.S. in Dietetics and M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University where she concurrently completed a dietetic internship.
Shelley is Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), certified personal trainer, and will soon be a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD).
Shelley is passionate about helping students with eating disorders, disordered eating, in addition to helping student athletes through sports nutrition. She also has extensive experience in working with substance abuse, digestive disorders (IBS & IBD), GERD, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diabetes, cardiovascular health, food intolerances/allergies, and weight management.
Shelley is also a competitive athlete, recently finishing an Ironman (140.6 miles) in 2018, and is currently training for an Ironman for 2019. In all, she has completed six half-Ironman races (70.3 miles), multiple marathons, and is a proud swimmer for U.S. Masters Swimming.
Dietitian services are free to TCU students. Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are trained to assess nutritional status and provide nutrition counseling for various medical conditions, including food allergies, eating disorders, and diabetes, among many others. Shelley is available to help students navigate and understand dining options on campus to meet their individual needs, as well as provide nutrition presentations to groups and classes.
